hello

any firefox version 4+ sucks and australis (24+) is awful. but chrome with default settings is privacy breach.
to quickly migrate from firefox to chrome lowering privacy issues, you need at least do following things.

1. installation
grab “For IT managers” msi package from https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/business/browser/
or
install chromium from here:

https://commondatastorage.googleapis.com/chromium-browser-snapshots/index.html?path=Win/

scroll to the bottom in folder with bigger number and download chrome-win32.zip from it. in second case there is no autoupdate

2. make links
there is list of available command line switches here http://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/
windows has stupid limitation in 256 symbols for .lnk commandline, so bigger list wont fit in it. so, make a .cmd batch file:

start /d "c:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --incognito --disable-application-cache --disable-gpu-shader-disk-cache --disk-cache-size="0" --no-pings --no-first-run --disable-remote-fonts --disable-background-mode --disable-metrics --disable-metrics-reporting --disable-logging --new-http --lang="en"

and user data will be saved to “AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\” in your windows profile folder. to prevent this, you may set path to profile manually, adding –user-data-dir switch:
--user-data-dir="d:\chrome_profiles\1"

if your organization use proxy server, just add following
--proxy-server="https=127.0.0.1:8118;http=127.0.01:8118"

3. run
to reduce privacy breach, i propose use of following addons:
1) adblock.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-plus/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb

locate it’s settings (in my case it is file “C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Profile 1\File System03\p00000000″
) and replace them with contents of firefox’s patterns.ini file from your firefox profile (adblockplus\patterns.ini)

last bit is tricky. to properly locate chrome’s adblockplus settings file you may consider adding to adblock list few custom filters. go to
“add you own filter” screen ( chrome-extension://cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb/options.html ) and type some:
||ohinternet.com^
try to search this string in files in your profile. open your chrome profile and type
findstr /sinp "||ohinternet.com^" *
output will be something like this:

C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data>findstr /sinp “||ohinternet.com^” *
Profile 1\File System03\p00000000:234:text=||ohinternet.com^
Profile 1\File System03\p00000000:7523:||ohinternet.com^
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data>

so our file is “C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Profile 1\File System03\p00000000″

2) scriptsafe

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/scriptsafe/oiigbmnaadbkfbmpbfijlflahbdbdgdf

closest to NoScrpit as possible
3) web-developer

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/web-developer/bfbameneiokkgbdmiekhjnmfkcnldhhm

quick turn java/cookies/images on/off
4) https-everywhere

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/https-everywhere/gcbommkclmclpchllfjekcdonpmejbdp

no need to comment, i think
5) cache-killer

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cache-killer/jpfbieopdmepaolggioebjmedmclkbap

to force reload files from server and prevent ETag user tracking.

shortest list as possible. cheers (-:
